An advanced screening system to check the health of your eyes has arrived at Concept. The 3D OCT (Optical Coherence Tomography) is advanced technology designed to analyse the retina and optic nerve, as well as structures at the front of the eye in fine detail. It’s a bit like an MRI scan for your eyes. A step or in fact a significant leap forward from digital photography - which is already integrated into your sight test – an OCT scan now offers the most comprehensive picture to detect common eye conditions.
The Optical Coherence Tomography, or OCT appointment, is conducted by our highly experienced optometrist. As not everyone needs this scan, he will determine whether you would personally benefit from having this assessment. The appointment itself is a relaxed process taking the same time as a normal sight test, with you the patient, being able to view the images alongside the optometrist.
What does it do?
The OCT checks for potentially serious conditions including:
- Age-related macular degeneration
- Vitreous detachments
All eyes are at risk from damage. Concept can now screen for early glaucoma and macular degeneration (from about the age of thirty), diabetic eye disease in any age group and other blood-related diseases that have a propensity for quietly damaging the eye.
“The introduction of an OCT for the benefit of our patients is a natural progression for us to continue to meet gold standard in clinical excellence” Vik K. MD
THE OCT WILL BE LAUNCHED AT CONCEPT FROM AUGUST 12TH. HAVE A CHAT WITH OUR SENIOR OPTOMETRIST, JIM BRENNAN ABOUT THE BENEFITS OF AN OCT SCAN FOR YOU.
